I picked up my first box of halves today and I started thinking about how to get rid of them after I searched them. I know not to take them back to the bank where I got them. Does a bank have to take them if I'm depositing them into an account?

.........just make sure your back-up alarm is in working order so you don't run over anyone!

Have more than 1 bank/branch to dump at and don't go during busy hours.

Don't order more than you can dump.

Find a bank with a coin counter that accepts halves.

Try and open bank accounts in multiple banks. Look for bank that will give you a free account (no fees) for a small balance.
I think the best dumping technique is going to a bank with a counting machine (you won't have to roll the coins) and they give you the cash right away to go and buy more coins. Watch out! Some counting machines make mistakes, the first few time you use it, count your coins first then put them thru.

Don't jump in over your head, if you plan to purchase $500 in half dollars or whatever denomination, be sure you have a plan to get rid of them or the situation could get bad.
