Cool chest!! Like Mike said, good place to stash some of the good stuff. Seems to be made of different woods. The back panel looks to be hand sawed, the front panel looks to have been sawed with a large radial blade. The riveted metal serves no purpose but looks good. A tool chest or locker would have a tray or shelf. I would say turn of the century? I like it!! What is it, I don't have a clue.

I don't know age, but looking at it, it looks like whoever built it was not a professional carpenter. The way the corners are joined, the rough edges, and the sort of random spacing in the tacks on the brass strips makes me think it was home built by an amateur. It's definitely a neat chest.

To me it looks to be first quarter 20thc (1920), I'm thinking possibly Germanic in design? :icon_scratch:
Looks to be made of 6" - 8" pine boards, which tells me that it's relatively modern.

Does it have any handles on the sides and what does the bottom look like?

I'm now thinking your chest is more likely to be Middle Eastern or possibly Russian in design. :icon_scratch:

I have an antique corner cabinet in my living room that I bought years ago from an antiques dealer in Toronto.
Mine was made in the late 19thc, it's made of pine with a faux grain painted surface and it looks similar in construction to your chest.
My cabinet originally had painted yellow wooden knobs on it, but I didn't like how they looked, so I replaced them with the white porcelain ones you see now.

Thanks for the pics jtw,
Dave
