Any guesses on what this, is or what it was used for?

I found this hook type item at a ghost town here in northern AZ. It appears to be hand forged, and pretty old. The size is approximately 3" x 3". Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, do you think it's railroad or logging related? I've never heard of a choker hook before.

the eyelet or hole is too small and facing the wrong direction for a choker.

I honestly don't know if a coffee grinder crank would be so thick and heavy, but I guess it could be one? The diameter of the shank is 1/2".

does the hole happen to be 3/8'' ? a common chain size.

The hole does appear to be 3/8-ish. It's pretty rusty.
