looks like a modern .22, but patina shows it's been in the ground a while. possibly 60 or more years old would be my guess

I obviously need prescription glasses. When I first saw the item, my first reaction was 'Native American shell bead.' I just hit fourty. Is it all down hill from here?...lol

Regards,

JG

Yes, it's down hill from where you are. At 65 you're looking at buying a motorized 4 wheel scooter to detect from! That bullet looks a bit large for a .22. Are there tiny vertical lines in the recessed lines gound around it? If so, it is modern.

I am almost to the bottom of the hill, turning 70 tomorrow. We really need measurements to properly Id your find. Also, clean out the grooves to see if they are smooth or have tiny ridges in one or both of them.

.32 caliber

For you, yes, but you meant up hill. Down hill is easy.

When it comes to vision, unfortunately yes. Dollar store reading glasses are your friends.

I didn't go down hill at 40 but at 60 it was like falling off a cliff.

My friend said that it definately looks like a 32 and he didn't see any rifling.

Glad you asked this question, Brianfromsyr... now I know too!

Was reading post while outside. Didn't notice that was you Terry.
Thank you.

Your welcome Nick.
My friend found that bullet.
I had detectors since 2004ish but only used them looking for gold.
Been out only 5 times relic hunting and the history research part has me hooked.
