Solved! Vintage silver cigarette holder

Got out before the rain hit after work, in a nice stretch of woods near an old lake and the railroad tracks. Got a high signal on the F75, thought maybe a silver quarter at first, but this thing came out of 6" of brown sugar soil.

It appears to be silver, the only mark is the little "4" on the cap. The three inside parts nested together, I assume it goes together like shown in the photo. The small amber or plastic piece has a hole all the way through. Capsule is about 1 inch long, the assembled sections about 2 inches.

Any help identifying is much appreciated!

Can't be early 1900's if that piece is for sure plastic. Could it be bakelite?

The ”plastic” might be bone or horn... these were made around WWI era, hence the bullet design. Cool find.

Pretty cool find. The tip might be Bakelite, which is an early form of plastic. Rub it with your thumb until it's warm and then smell the piece. If you get a tiny whiff of formaldehyde it's gotta be Bakelite.

Now that's a unique and way cool find. I've never seen or heard of it. Does it have any silver markings? Looks like silver to me. Congrats.

Very cool cigarette holder! They were used back in the day, when your doctor would tell you to "stay away from cigarettes". With this you could stay a few inches away.
