Found where old store once was in the 1800’s .
Was told may have been a cotton gin at this site.
Curious if this old or modern. I used a grinder to remove rust off. Any clues would be appreciated. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1578546587.382498.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1578546650.252947.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1578546690.774374.webp

It reminds me of the top to an antique string/twine dispenser like was seen in old stores.

Looking now, it is cast iron , has that raised area and small grooves on either side of the raised piece near where my thumb is in first picture

Could this be some type of vintage pressure relief valve?

it's not a plumbing pressure relief for sure. it's not anything plumbing related . I like the twine dispenser idea. used so long it wore a notch in it.
