This brooch/badge like item is copper. Gilt on the back and around the wreath on the front (which I think are oak leaves). An odd symbol/design in the centre and It has an odd placement for the retaining clip.
It fascinates me. I'd love to know more about it if anyone can help? Thanks everyone

First that comes to mind is that the piece is a hat pin of sorts. The pin looks like it's folded back and flat instead of round which throws a curve ball at my thought.
Probably Crusader would have a pretty good idea.

I though it was Lawrence of Alabia's pendant. :laughing7:

It is indeed a flattened retaining clip. The clip in in tact and not mangled about. looks like it might have clipped on to a lapel or something (which would make it a lot younger than I thought).

Yeah, I was thinking CRU' might be able to help with this one. Here's hoping.

Rugby league pin?

Just to add a thought from a photo-but it gives you the general idea where I got it from

Half of a cloak clasp. This one is Victorian era.
