Found in the garden it was not there earlier. It is gray melted nickle looking slag thing, It is warm to hold, The metal detector goes off on it. But does not attract a magnet. It broke in two when it hit the ground.

VERY difficult to tell from the pictures... next time try using the macro on your camera because it's better for taking pictures of small items.

The next time you want to ask this question, I would suggest posting on these forums-

Nuggetshooter Forum

Excellent forum with ALOT of meteorite hunters on it (including myself) that will be happy to tell you yeah or neah.

Sky Rock Cafe-

This forum is decent, the people are very enthusiastic about meteorites and will help you out with identification.

As for your find being a meteorite, sorry... but if it isn't magnetic then most likely it's not a meteorite. Keep at it though because they're out there.

Actually I wasn't hunting for meteorites when it was found, It looks like its some kind of melted nickle aluminum metal. It was hot when found and it is still warm to hold , I am taking it in tomarrow to get it checked in the mean time it stays outside away from the house. and sorry bout the pics I can't find Macro on the camera. :-[

Macro is some times indecated by a flower icon. Follow Paseclipse advise .and let us know the out come. Good luck!

Just to let you know meteorites won't do strange things to you if you hold them (this is what Hollywood wants you to to believe LOL). They can be held and touched with no problems at all, though the oils on your skin will do more damage to the meteorite than it will ever do to you because the earth is a hostile environment for them.

Like I said before, if it's nonmagnetic (like you state), then most likely it's NOT a meteorite so there's really no point in getting it check out.

Glad you got a good laugh.

Zinc with a little bit of Aluminum. THE other half still thinks its from a satillitte or something. At least now he will let me bring it in the house. Peggy
