I'm thinking some sort of multi purpose tool? It's uniface with a serrated edge on one side, scraper like beveled edge on the other, what do you think?

neat find, although not sure what it was used for. Thanks for sharing.

not sure dude, I was thinking drill when I first found it, took it home and washed it up and still have no clue, the distal end isn't really worked like a drill it's pretty thick, and lacks usewear?

Nice find, Thirty7. I call those kind of drills or"diggers", "thumb drills". I think they were never meant to be halfted to a wood shaft, but just spun with the thumb and fingers. They are harder then a fingernail, and good for such simple things, as gauging out the starter divot, for a fire drill, hearth board. I would say that is a rare find.

cool, thanks for the info triplecreek, it's an interesting tool, would be handy for alot of quick tasks.

many miles inland, but you know there are many large ancient freshwater mussels shells in the area it came from, always love seeing those, it's usually a good indicator of being a site, at least around here. woudl be the perfect tool for opening up shells.
