Found this where we find stuff around 1900. The thick part is lead. It looks like something else may have been pressed into the back of it. Not sure what the saw like marks are for on the front of the lead. I give up. Thought some experts here may have seen something similar. Any ideas? Thanks for looking!

I have found those in farm fields and always thought they were shipping crimps from rolls of wire to keep the from unraveling during transport.
