I found this in the middle of the woods in Oakland County Michigan as a kid. I've kept it all of these years but have been unable to identify it. Do you have any idea what it might be? It's heavy like a normal rock and I can see other areas on it (besides the obvious one) where there are small cuts/abrasions as if it was rubbed on something.

Is it just me, but in the 2nd picture, on the pointed end, s there a animal or lizard like face carved in it, and in the last picture, is there a couple of simple faces, eyes and mouth carved in it? It looks like it from here!

Not all fossil teeth look like the museum quality images above.:icon_thumright: Might not be a Mastodon, maybe Stegodon.

It's not Mammoth or Mastodon.
Not a tooth at all
 
I only wish it was a tooth, trust me. But I don't think it is. However, they did find a Mammoth not far from where I found this.
