Found three of these in an old port town. I know! It looks like a hasp type thing like you would hook on the dogs collar. Its not spring loaded It's threaded with a nareld round tip for turning with fingers and the shaft is hollow on one of them. It also has a chain on the turning part.

Yea I thought about mics. too. Not for a # reading but fot checking a size and then comparing. That is unless there are # readings on the shaft inside. The walls of the one that has only half a shaft are very thin, not good for holding much weight if it is a hasp.

I beleive that the item on the left is a "screw shackle". These are used in the rigging of sails on sailing ships, and are still in use today.

The item of the right looks like a "snap shackle", also used in rigging sailing ships.

Looks like cica 1950 style, but I am unable to find a reference for this style.

Like Lonewolf said, it looks like an early Micrometer, any numbers on the shaft? HH, Mike
