Any info please?

Hi,I was wondering if anybody could tell me what my rock is? I'm not very good at taking photos and I cant capture how it actually looks.its about 4inches long,weights about 1kg,there is metallic bits and strands in it,and it's quite smooth. I found it at blackpool beach,uk

Looks like mafic basalt, not sure about what your describing as metalic look but some of the cavities left by previous crystals suggest biotite. Basalts are a mixed bag of minerals~ a local mineral club or mineral seller might give you more specifics.
