Hello all, I'm Phil. I live in the central valley California. Retired about 6 or 7 months ago. I picked up the prospecting bug a bit ago. I got a nice 4 ft. sluice and a couple of pans and classifier. I have been to Briceburg, Ca off of 140 on the way to Yosemite. I have been there 3 times and checking bed rock cracks and crevices. Nothing. ok not quite 5 microscopic tiny specks. It's almost like someone has been through there with a fine tooth comb fancy expensive metal detector. Any comments, please.

Possibly try somewhere harder to get to? I have never been but I’d assume if it’s easy to get to or well known it’s well worked. Your luck will turn keep hunting and you should pick up a lot of tips and tricks being on here.

It’s called population explosion, things I learned on the forum, if you can see it from the road, so has some twenty others. Same logic, if you thought to pan for gold at your chosen spot, AND, it’s public or book published knowledge, it’s more than likely close to or flat hunted out.

Got to go deeper, back country, at difficult to get to crevices, ledges and canyons. The source of the gold is still out there, rich veins, ledges still waiting to be discovered. But yeah, population explosion and modern tech and satellites have reduced the barriers to entry for exploration. Only positive is most people today have become too docile to get up off their sofas from watching professional sports to care. But the easy pickings are long gone, unless earth as we've been spoon fed in school is not actually what it is and there are other lands beyond the antarctic and in the arctic a la Admiral Byrd and various other explorers who have documented experiences that are contrary to the mainstream narrative.

Buddy, I know your feeling, I have been trying for years to find a Canadian large cent late 19th to early 20th century, I go to the old parks, I have the same feeling, someone’s more like someones, they’ve gone over it with the entire gamut of hair dressing firkin’ combs, fine and coarse..it’s quite annoying to say the least
