A friend recently gifted this meteorite to me that he found in British Columbia years ago with his metal detector.
He told me that it's mainly nickel, but contains some iron as well, although a magnet doesn't stick to it.
I've done some online research, but I'm not sure if this is the real deal or not... it is very heavy for how small it is. :icon_scratch:

Thanks,
Dave

Both nickel and iron are magnetic, so a magnet should stick if it's mostly either of those.

Yes, it does look like melted aluminium from a campfire.

Anything which has the visual appearance of metal, but which is not attracted to a magnet cannot be a meteorite. There are no exceptions to that rule. Metallic meteorites are always predominantly iron with a lesser amount of nickel and exhibit strong magnetic attraction.

Thanks for the input here guys, I do appreciate it. :occasion14:

I too have found my share of melted blobs of aluminum, but this one is very heavy. :icon_scratch:
