It's still here.
I live in Winchester, and I've pulled 5 plates in 3 years (all US). It's here, but it's spread out. Yes, there are some avid "old Timers" that beat the hell out of the obvious spots, but I've found that the outskirts and the least likely places still produce. I look for steep inclines that go down to substantial creeks....the old timers sometimes say "screw that" and move to more solid ground. I pulled a couple full Hotchkiss shells on massive inclines last year. Also, the old timers used to plate hunt (high disc.), in most cases, and the older Metrotechs and early Nautilus machines may have missed those small cuffs. I pulled 2 droop wing cuffs in a yard in Winchester that many said was beat. Also, go where it's trashy....with patience and a good knowledge of your machine, you can get past that masking layer and find the Civil War era layer. It takes a little more time and patience around here, but it's still giving up a few goodies. You're welcome to shoot me an email anytime you guys are around here, and we'll see what the old farts left behind.
