i found this stirrup last week and am wondering if anyone knows anything about it..
is seems to small for an adult..did they make these for kids?
it is 4 1/2" wide and 5" tall..

I am definitely NOT an expert, but I did dig the very same looking stirrup. The boys around here all called it a ladies stirrup. That may be true but the civil war soldiers did have small feet. Robert E Lee wore a mans size 4.

I have found several small stirrups in the past. I assumed they were for kids.

i found it in an area that had 5 old old old foundations last week...it looks like the area was hit pretty hard by others with detectors.
there was dug up junk all over the place. at least they left them up against trees. my guess on the age of the foundations is early 1800's.???
there was a large root growing through it..4" plus..
