🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Any thgts?

Morning y'all, I dug this last week at a early homesite and can't seem to come up with what it is. If you look close you can see some sort of two handled ( vase, trophy cup?) with flowers at the top. Thgt it was a fancy draw pull at first but the attachment hole is so small thread can barely go through it. For some reason I keep thinking it's got a (mourning feel) to me. Any ideas?

This is actually a "tieback".... used on curtains.,,, and also on Battersea box lids.

I personally think it is a horse related accoutrement, perhaps an older glass faced or enameled rosette or a blinder accoutrement. I know I have seen that stem type mount before, but I haven't had time to look through my files yet.

I like where you're going with that. I thgt of a rosette as well but the back makes me think different.

My first thought is possibly a cloak button... half of a cloak fastener.

The old curtain tiebacks use to be a common find in the older areas in the north.

"Battersea" is what your piece is called in my opinion... they made all kinds of things with similar logos.

The one he pictured is called an "Urn".

The tiebacks I am familiar with all had long stems with threads at the ends to mount on the trim. I suppose this could have snapped off, but what is the purpose of the hole?

Same here. They have long stems on the back and the one I found is not broken .
