I cannot tell the year from the photo, but regardless it's in very rough shape. Is it supposed to be a special coin? I think it may be worth 25 cents.

I believe I can see 1977 on it. If that is the case, then it is worth only $0.25. Quarters were silver until 1964, then they went to a "Clad" material. Unless the coin is in Mint State (MS) or Proof Condition (PF), AND it's graded by a reputable coin grader, then it's only worth face value.

Looks like 1977 to me too. I don't think I'd even give 25 cents for it actually. It's beat up pretty badly.
