I've got a stand up magnifying lamp that I use that has a large 2x lens with a small 10x lens for close up detail viewing. It's got an extendable arm and can adjust to many different configurations. I've also got a smaller tabletop one that's a bit more portable.

I think I paid about $50 for the stand up lamp and $20 for the desk top one. Wife found a nice $10 one that folds up and runs on batteries. All have the same feature of an LED lighted 2x lens that's maybe 3" in diameter with a 10x or 15x small lens inset that's maybe 1" diameter.

I find that a good, strong light source helps better than anything for old eyes.

These are all great suggestions.
I imagine the usb micro would produce some good images.
The stand up magnifier sounds workable.
I'm not sure what gage twist tie to use on the loupe, tho.
This is a nice range of workable suggestions.
Thanks to all!

Port Ewen Ace, I use a loop inside my glasses because of my diminishing eyesight for close-ups. Over time though, it actually scratched the lens.

I use a pair of + 12 bifocals but only use one lens on my good eye. It makes the work really tolerable otherwise I can't find much.
