I was there with my MD buddy in Nov. of 2008 and it was a sight to see, they have a very large swimming pool for kids right in front of the entrance and gift shop is very nice and they have a rental shop there for all the digging tools, sifting boxes, and buckets. We brought our own shovels and rubber boots, but we only lasted half a day because it had rain 2 inches the day before and we would sink in the mud half way to our knees and had to use our arms to lift a leg out for the next step. The water cleaning shed was about 100 yards from the rental shop so it took us about 20 min. to get there and another 20 min. of well needed rest so we ended only walking out no more then 40 feet from the water shed and after 4 buckets of soil we gave it up. Even with all the mud I still enjoyed it just for the adventure but my buddy said we wouldn't come back (back pains). We then went into the very small town and had dinner and we went into the many gift shops they have in town, There is two motel and several bed and breakfast homes. We left and went south a couple of hours to Shereport, Louisiana for alittle gambling, he won about a five hundred dollars and I won seven hundred so we rented a room at the Eldorado Casino and left the next morning for home. I am making plans to go back this summer to take my wife and two grandkids but I will check the weather there first.
PS. here's a tip /rent the round sifting boxes not the square ones if you do have a diamond it will show up in the middle of the round box when you flit it over as for the square one the diamond will be any where in the box. There are many videos on the You Tube.com web site just type in Creater of Diamonds.... Art de Cuerno
