I've had this piece for a little while. I'm not good when it comes to artwork, and I rarely buy any but I liked the look of this one. I know it's a longshot but does anyone recognize the style or the signature? It's an oil painting, sorry about the glare from the flash.

how many stars in the flag.might give you some idea of the age.I like it to.

It's a Betsy Ross style flag. 13 stars. Good thinking but no help there. I doubt it's very old but it does have a primitive "folksy" look to it. Thanks.

Just doing a bit of tidying up on some older threads, mainly for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

There seem to be multiple versions of this (and similar scenes) with slight variations in the details. Tyoically, they’re usually signed “L. Oddie” (other signatures too) with an inconsistent hand and painted in the style of the famous American folk artist “Grandma Moses”. (Anna Mary Robertson Moses):

The multiplicity of similar works and variations in signature suggests that they’re being churned out from a studio, reinforced by the fact that none of the art sites are able to provide any biographical details for an artist with that name. That’s usually a good indication for a fictitious studio name. Yours has a different signature, but I suspect is also ‘studio work’ wall art.

Here’s a couple of examples:
