Sometimes I will ask if they don't have any halves and I have extra money. Yesterday I was looking for halves and all the tellers started offering me $2 bills they all had at least ten each but I declined.

I'll check and usually take it if they offer it... just as a favor. I once pulled a 1981 $100 * note out of a stack I got from dumping... sold it for $300. :)

I think this is a legitimate place to ask what people do when CRHing and coins are unavailable. No?

I just picked up a 1928 red seal 2 dollar bill when I was getting my halves this week from one of my cool banks, she collects IKe's so I brought her 2 and she gave me the bill and said she has them come through often. Now I'm going to give it to one of my tellers that collects old bills in exchange for saving me halves and big dollars when they come in ( see the cycle) and I'll bring the big dollars back to my cool bank and get more old bills, works out good for me. Maverick.

I ask my tellers to save me old bills before 1960.
I scored a few 20$ gold certs from 1928 some nice 1934 5$, 5x10$, 3x50$, 1x100$, 2 uncirculated 10$ star notes from 1950, some red seal 2$ bills and first day issues, and some silver certificates.

My girlfriend finds tons of old paper bills as she works in the accounting office at WalMart. She's found tons of the dollar silver certificates from the 30's and the Red note $5 bills. I've looked them up and have never found any worth anything so I don't even try anymore.

When I was a waiter, I used to save dollar bills with low/repeating/fancy serial numbers (never really found any old bills). I did sell some of them for a pretty good profit on eBay. The best ones to look for are serial #s under 100 (00000001 is worth a TON), all the same # (like 22222222), or any type of error bills.

I think this is the right place to post this, I always enjoy looking for red and blue seal notes, and i bet others do to. It's kind of a "fringe" hobby for CRHs

A few weeks ago while on a road trip I found two red seal $2 note and both a red and blue seal $5 note. Whenever I walk into a bank, I just ask if they have anything interesting, and don't specify a certain denomination. This way you'll get whatever neat stuff they have, it's not always halves.

I don't look for old notes but when tellers want to get rid of them I'll take them to help my helpful tellers.

I like this. I always wonder what to do with Ike's since they really are tough to make a premium on.

i was in a bank a couple weeks ago and there was a man placing an order for $2000.00 in $2.00 bills. It would be a safe to say he is looking for the old funny money. I have a few tellers ask me if i want any of the 2 dollar bills, i ask if any of them have a red seal. So far i have gotten a couple of the 2 dollar bills and a 5.

I have been trying to find a niche with each teller I deal with, so if one likes to collect bills I'll try and find her some from another branch ( I try and visit many banks throught the week) and I just lucked out on the one that likes to collect Ike's, so I ask for those everywhere I go so I can bring her some, though I know I probably won't find any silver halves in CWR's in her bank either, I'm sure she snaggs those when they come in too, so I haven't asked. It gives me a little advantage for ordering and dumping by doing these little things. Sorry a little off topic from the original post. Maverick.
