Hi everyone. I found a large number (13) of foreign coins very shallow and close to each other when detecting yesterday afternoon/evening after work. I figure they are either from a LARGE pocket spill or someone didn't want them and discarded them. Among the 13 are 4 Asian coins I cannot identify. They are either Chinese or Japanese. I have taken 2 pics of them with my webcam. Any info such as country, denomination, year/date, and composition would be greatly appreciated. Also, if any of them have numismatic value, that would be good to know as well. Thanks!!

That 100 yen coin is actually worth more than a dollar. I try to find those whenever I go to the local coin shows. I can usually buy them for 10-20 cents or so. I figure that someday when I have $100 worth I'll trade them in. That assumes of course that they are actually worth something by then. I have some old Mexican money that has been devalued so much a $100 peso coin is only worth about 10 cents now. :tongue3:

Many clubs these days use bags of foreign coins for seeded hunts for kids. I did one recently and that's what I did. People that come along after the kids have hunted as much as they can stand are probably pretty confused by the number of worthless foreign coins they are finding in the park.

Mystery solved!! Thanks folks!! I now have two 5 Yen coins, one 10 Yen coin, and one 100 Yen coin (possibly dated 1948). The dates on the 5 and 10 Yen coins are entirely in Japanese characters, so there's no way I can read them :( .
