Thanks for the reply I have been several cruises and Cancun flying without issues .I understand that Detecting is against the law on Antigua. I worked for a company that had a resort on Antigua, I was about to go until I found was told any detecting was not going to end well. So I have never been there. However;
Jamaica ALL METAL DETECTORS are on the BANDED list. On my 3rd trip two of us had ALL OUR DETECTING EQUIPMENT confiscated by customs on the way into Jamaica. We got all the gear back on the way home. The ordeal in getting the gear back took about two hours. Now I have tried to take detecting equipment aboard a NCL cruise...CAN"T. NCL have metal detecting equipment on their banded list. There are other places to go, detect, and enjoy our hobby without having a vacation turned into a nightmare.
When you tried taking your detector on NCL, what happened? Did they confiscate it and return it to you at the end of the cruise trip?I understand that Detecting is against the law on Antigua. All I can find is article from 2018 nothing newer and no laws on any local office . stating ‘’ it is against the law for anyone to use metal detectors to unearth artefacts buried under the sand and on shorelines."Sep 14, 2018When you tried taking your detector on NCL, what happened? The problem is that I booked a cruise on NCL and didn't even think of the metal detector policy. I have been on Royal Caribbean and MSC (cruise line), and there was never any problems. That's why I wonder what experience @WaterWalker had when trying to board NCL with his gear.All I can find is article from 2018 nothing newer and no laws on any local office . stating ‘’ it is against the law for anyone to use metal detectors to unearth artefacts buried under the sand and on shorelines."Sep 14, 2018

May we all bow to the authoritative NCL.
Way too restrictive in when personal grooming items are restricted.
This statement alone has unlimited restrictions on a paying customer.

I bet he did wellMany years ago I used to know this detector dealer in Toronto.
His annual holiday was to Antigua, but only the private resorts.
He really did well in the gold jewelry finds.
Times change-though I wonder if the private sector have different options.
