Anyone pan the Eel River?

I never explored or sample panned around the Eel river. Has anyone else? I live near the headwaters in Redwood Valley and would love to go out with anyone familiar or wanting to start sampling around. Near Van Arsedale dam there is an old stage road that ran from Willits to Lakeport.

Did you ever go? I have been panning around the Russian River, finding nothing. I'm in Cloverdale, and have panned Big Sulphur Creek, Ash Creek, Pieta Creek and found only copper.

He is in Humboldt county California, the Eel River is known to contain platinum but I don't know about gold. I havn't tried but I know where there is some tasty looking bedrock crevices one of these days I am going to hit.
