Anyone try hunting the Tot-Lots with shredded tire instead of mulch?

Well, I tried. Found 35 cents and stopped after I kept finding these tiny copper/bronze looking pieces! No idea what they are!
 

Have tried a few in my area, and there are a lot of small aluminum pieces mixed in. Seems like some aluminum rims got ground up with the tires.
 

Nope. Makes my machine chatter so I don't hunt in it.
 

That's a real bad idea using ground tires in tot lots. A lot of tires have steel cords. A high risk of injury to the kids. Frank

Right on. Many towns here on LI have stopped using shredded tires. They now use some sort of rubber flooring.
 

I had a lot of falsing with the Ace 250...so I don't hunt them anymore
 

I have has some success with very low sensitivity. I find a lot of sharp pieces of metal and pieces of cable in the mulch. I'm sure there are a lot of kids being hurt playing in that crap. They need to outlaw this tire mulch!
