I know some of you diehard rebels love to show your displeasure with eBay but I want to know what's wrong with making a killing selling silver halves. These silver halves cost a whopping fitty cents a piece and can be sold for 29 times face value.
What's the big negative here ? Even with the fees, you still net pretty well. No muss,no fuss.
So let me have your opinions. I think eBay is perfect for CRHing. Jim

I have an eBay store. If I can't source the items cost to me, then it shows up as pure profit... taxable profit. I could only write off the .50 each half cost me and the seller fees, shipping, etc... I prefer to sell to dealers in small quantities or on craigslist. I am aware of the dangers of craigslist and take my friends smith and wesson with me whenever I move a lot of coins. Always in a public place, always during business hours. EBay is great for an occasional sale for me, and for some it is perfect.

I personally only use ebay for big ticket items. I usually use craigslist for smaller items to avoid all the fees and hassles.

I agree with you, coolpix, and also use ebay to move my silver. I figure that the fee is about the same as if I were sending it in to be melted since most refineries only pay 90% of melt, and this way the coins stay coins and everybody's happy. : )

Many better ways to sell coins.......i see complaints about craigslist, but it works pretty well for me in my opinion. Just be smart about CL =)

Commission is 12% on everything & on shipping too.

One has to do the math and sell at a feasible amount. It's not good for selling copper pennies. I recall selling $50 face in copper cents for $76 awhile back and after fees, I only got something like $15.00.. lame.

Also seller has no rights on feedback.. If someone wants to give you a negative there's nothing you can do about it since you can't give one back. There's a lot of Ebay seller-buyer horror stories on the PCGS forums.

I've bought on eBay, never sold...... Never, never sell your Ag :laughing7: :laughing7:

I use ebay to buy the more exotic bullion (nickel, tantalum, tin, etc) and use local coin shops for my gold/silver purchases. I love the fact that I can still obtain other metals through ebay when it would be very difficult to do so around my area.

It's not THAT bad. Depends what you are selling. If I can avoid Ebay, I will, but I like knowing that I can get rid of something if I really need to pretty quickly from wherever I am..
