April fool's find

Morning,

Left work and went to a cutover which had recently been planted in pine trees. It got dark on me before I really got where I wanted to go, but I did find these two. The larger looks to me like a hell gap point, but that isnt something I find here too often....any ideas on what else it might be?

Happy Hunting,

Atlantis

Re: April fool's find

I don't think it's a hell gap.... but I can't really say, we don't find them up here so all I know of them is what I've seen in books... It does look like some of the early woodland pieces I find around here... or maybe even in the durst family of points.. maybe one of the natives from up here lost it while on vacation down there- ? LOL!

Re: April fool's find

Very nice Atlantis,

The older point does not have the same workmanship as Coldwater though the outline is similar. It looks to have been sharpened down from a larger first stage. Maybe Woodland or maybe a deep notched Archaic with the notches disappearing from resharpening? Maybe you will find more there to get clues from.

Good Luck,

ROCKY

The Birdpoint is a Catahula(sp?) Point and I don't think the Stemmed Point is a Hell Gap.
