Apush: A first and a second . . . (w/pics)

Hello All,

The "first" is a negative. I picked up 6 boxes of halves yesterday. On the next to last box, I found rewrapped "crimped" roles. I generally pick up the long flat boxes with the holes and always take a peek. The crimps were on the no-show side of the box. A first for me from a sealed box. Dang the luck on that one.


The "second" is a positive. 1 box contained 6-2009S silver cameos. 2 were side-by-side so my immediate reaction was that some bored individual got out the silver spray paint (we have all seen those before). Another role produced 2 as well, and the other 2 were found in single rolls. I have only found 8 other modern silver cameos since my time CRHing. Hope to some day add another 6 and complete a full roll.

Overall the pickens were slim for 6 boxes, but still a tad more for the pile.

Your kidding on the slim pickens, right? If my math is correct, you ended up with 11-90% and 8-40% in six boxes. Heck, I would take that all day everyday up here in the Upper Midwest.

wow - finding 6 silver 2009's in one box is rather surprising - but the rims sure look silver - nice finds

And that shinny '63 BF looks really nice too - could it be proof as well? It sure doesn't look like it has been circulated much. I'd sure put that one in a 2x2 holder.

Great finds. Odd that someone would have (6) 2009 silver proof sets and break them all open just to depost/spend them. Who knows the story of how they got there in your boxes. I've just found one modern 90% proof in about 13 years of searching. You did very well.

awesome batch, definately not slim pickins, wish I could have your average right now, boxes have went downhill real fast for me the last few months. on an 8 box skunk-streak right now, and i only do them in batches of 2.

Yes, Silverface. It is highly unlikely, but I do know silver when I see it . . . or hear it. It was a fluke, but one I am glad I found. Been around the block or so a few times. Folks that know me on the Net know I won't ever fudge. Not worth the effort.
