Catching up, Gold ring number 48 using the Fisher AQ PI from last week. Long hunt for me, about 4 hours in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
LOve old dated gold and this one has a rare purity mark "SOLID GOLD" Chunky at 5.5 grams

It would be interesting to know and also for you to determine the value what that ring tests at, with no number purity mark it could be a low karat gold or who knows, do you have a gold test kit?

Most marked solid gold were 10k. I have a few others I found in the past and they tested 10k.. And this is using a acid test kit. I would like to have one of those XRF test guns to see the full makeup, just to much cash.. and though about getting a regular pin tester but I've got fairly good over the years just by the way the gold looks. And the acids are a good cheap way of confirming.

Got the AQ's in 2020, May and Oct. ...48 since then. I did take off detecting 18 months in 2022 /23 for I had a battle with cancer.. So far a win there. The AQs also have 3 misc golds, dug another gold pendent yesterday.
Ten a year it's not the best gold count but they help when nothing else could find gold. Most of my gold in my 18 years of detecting came from the Excaliburs.

That ring looks really cool! Just a quick history note, your ring was inscribed June 29th 1916, that was just two days before the start of the Battle of the Somme, which started July 1st 1916.

Its not to bad now, its been so warm the water is 60 now. Last few weeks two has jumped about 20 degrees.
