I would like to introduce myself first. I am a archaeologist in Tioga County Pa. I have over 50,000 relics from an archaeological dig in Lawrenceville, Pa.that I own. There is a webiste, book, and a dvd that was published on my dig, all done by me and the discovery channel. The website is www.thecosmoresite.com On this dig there is hundreds of civil war relics and thousands of Native American artifacts. There is so many civil war relics because the railroad borders the east side of the mound. My mound is 20 miles form Elmira Ny (Civil war prison camp) They stopped here as an encampment. If anyone would like to talk, feel free to ask me. This is my first post here. Thank you..... ps........All my artifacts are housed in a state museum ran by me.

Very nice pictures there of the site. Is that all on your land or state land?

I own the land.....The dvd and the book is out on the site. If anyone is interested they are $20.00 each. Also The public is allowed to come and dig for a fee. We have them there all the time. We found a nice clovis the other day.

Looks like a great time. It is interesting to see the history that is beneath our feet. I have always been interested in archaeology and would like to know if you could recommend some good/great books for the beginner. Do you also metal detect??? Usually archaeologists and metal detectorists do not get along. Thanks for your help and thank you for preserving the history of Pennsylvania. Also, is there a list of the archaeological sites in the state so that we do not accidentally start digging on one if we get a signal. Thanks again.

Very cool thanks for preserving that!

first i must say kudos to you for coming here and posting this for the metal detecting community to see. usually acheaologists and detectorists are at odds with one another. its a shame really, it seems like so much more could be accomplished if we cooperated with one another. anyway, thanks for posting.also, welcome to t-net!

Where did you get your training at? Looks as though your dig style is rather random, or was it gridded off and then opened up one square at a time where ever somebody wanted to maybe? Do you have any mapped out features from the site, I would be really interested in seeing that-

Morning,

Nice stuff. Very interesting dig. I wish I had access to a site such as that, but here in Louisiana if I were to do that sort of digging, the local archaeologists would all label me a "scavenger" .....oh yea, they have...lol.

Owning the land is a big plus though...and an added bonus having civil war and Indian relics....I am envious...lol

Keep those relic photos coming!! By the way, welcome to the site....lots of good folks here. Its always nice to get "new blood" in the ranks.

I remember seeing a lot of this collection first hand when it was set up at the artifact show held at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio a few years back. My tables were set up directly across from their tables and it was quite an impressive set up.

Mr. Rose,
First let me thank you for sharing your site, it is extremely interesting and educational as well. I enjoyed going thru your entire site and you most certainly have a wide variety of relics. I think you traveling around to share your site is also very interesting and great for children as well as adults..

again thank you for sharing.
