Are pebble beaches young sand beaches?

Hi y'all!

I hope this is the right place for this. Lying on a pebble beach today I wondered: do pebble beaches become sand beaches in time? Or are they fundamentally different? I remember a close up shot of sand didn't look like pebbles. Thanks in advance for shining your light on this layman's question of a curious mind

Sand is silica. 27% of the earth crust. Pebbles would need to be analyzed to see what they are made up of.
Lime stone is common as is granite. Granite is a conglomerate of feldspar, mica, quartz mostly but very hard compared to limestone.
Pebbles often have fossils in them.
