If there isn't, there should be. You see more people swinging detectors than talking on ham radios, and we have Hamfests (I'm a ham, KE4CCK). I have looked on the internet and haven't seen anything. I'd like to have one here in Charlotte. I could use the community building at my church (my church is only 3 miles off I-85), give away door prizes, have lectures by experts on coins, Civil War, etc (I know people that would do it that are experts). Maybe invite some companies to come. Who knows? Everybody could bring stuff they don't use anymore to swap or sell. Show off their finds, talk shop, swap stories. What do y'all think? Has anyone ever done it?

Thanks Ramjet, I'd like some others to put some input in here.

I know I would attend

It's a great idea but please no swap meet around here.
The less people know about metal detecting around here the better it is for me.
I'd love to go to a swap meet like that and meet other people that shares the same passion for detecting, but I don't want anymore competition than there all ready is. It's kind of a catch 22 situation.

I think if I were to try to do it we'd keep the invites down to "us" and anybody you guys want to invite. I'm not going to put it in the paper or anything.

Thank and HH,
