Are these 2 items buttons?

I found these 2 items around an old late 1800 farm house. I'm new to detecting and was wondering if they were old buttons and if they are what can you tell me about them?

They don't look much like buttons. The shanks on the back make me think maybe cufflinks or something. Cool finds whatever they are

I've seen those posted in the what is it forum before , I can't remember what the final consensus was, but it seemed like they one of a couple things; a part of an early dry cell battery, or a fastener for roofing flashing or slate tiles

hope that can narrow down the search

I was out at the same location last nite and found another one.
thats a total of 3, two are nearly identical ones a little different.

also the house I am finding these around has a slate tile roof.
