In the past week, I went through 3 boxes of halves and was skunked on the silver. I did pull these out though: 1971s, 2003s. two 2007p and two 2007d. The 1971s and 2003s are from mint or souvenir sets in circulated condition. The four 2007 are in near mint condition(maybe the scan doesn't show it but they are in very nice condition). Any value to these coins beyond the usual 50 cents? If not, then it's another skunk for Arizona. 7up.

i keep proofes (S mint marks) because i like the way they look, but i do not keep the NIFC (2002 and up) because they arent worth anything almost all the time.

Toss them back. Heavily impaired proof have no value. You might find a buyer on eBay for a very small margin over face, but after fees and your time to photograph, list, ship, etc., you might end up losing money. The NIFC aren't in that great of condition from the scan to warrant setting aside.

Throw them back and keep your bank roll. NIFC are not worth keeping IMO everyones area is different. In my area I can find a perfect condition NIFC in every box actually multiple. If you enjoy them keep them however

Toss them back. You'll find shinier and less scratched proofs (s mint mark) and the 2002-2016p and d halves don't carry a premium.

Diver_Down(or anybody)......Please clarify...which of these are NIFC? 7up2000

NIFC means not intended for circulation. Any half dollar 2002 and newer were only sold to collectors through the US mint website. They have lower montages but they also don't carry a premium especially when they are circulated. All "S" mint marked proof (shiny mirror finish) coins are also NIFC and have no real value unless they are flawless. Even a single scratch will take any added value away from the coin.

They're all keepers. Most of the NIFCs have mintages not seen in 50+ years.

But there isn't a good market for circulated NIFC halves. There is barely a market for ones still in mint rolls and bags, hence why we find so many in circulation.

Not yet, but there will be. History always tend to repeat itself when it comes to low mintage coins.

Good luck living long enough for realizing a market for circulated NIFC Kennedy Halves. Save a few if you are inclined, perhaps your grandchildren will appreciate them or more likely they'll dump them then.

I'd save the nicest of each year and mint mark for the NIFC JFKs for the book and return the rest.
