Can't find it in the Red Book. Says Army nad Navy on the back with a wreath surround. Obverse has a bust facing left with some words. Can't quite make out the entire wording but there is a B and M,(or Mc.)( could be Mc Cullam??) to the left top of the head. The bust has a full head of hair and a mustache. Coin is the size of a penny only 1/2 as thin. My sister, Kim Galok, found this in Vermont yesterday. Someone has to have a pic of this one. Sorry pics are not so good, but there is pitting on the token. Thanks Guys The Hogge

Nice find, I can't read anything on that item. Have you tried to put a white paper on top and trace over it with a pencil, that may help somewhat.

Here's an 1863 Civil War token with a similar reverse but different obverse; though the token, itself, may be of the same vintage.

Thanks for the try Macka. The lettering on the back is too large, the bust is of a woman, and the obverse has stars instead of words. There does appear to be crossed swords in the wreath, but no star in the top center of the wreath. Thank you my T- Net friend.

So the bust of a man with a mustache is now that of a woman, presumably without a mustache?
You misunderstood. All 3 you showed me are busts of women. The one I Have is a man. Miscommunication on my part. I also believe the date is 1862, which is sort of odd to me. I'll try some new picks with colored paper.

Civil War tokens are token coins that were privately minted and distributed in the United States between 1862 and 1864; so you're on firm ground with a date of 1862.
