Looking for help in maybe identifying the origins of this arrow that I found painted on a cave wall near the Arkansas river in Arkansas. The paint is obviously not of modern origin. Arrow points to larger cave approx 50' upstream. Thanks in advance

Probably put there by someone who wanted someone else to go thatta way. :laughing7:

No clue, but likely not as old as you are thinking.

I'm with Grim. The paint is very bright for being ancient. Seen a lot of pictographs too.

I agree that the paint is pretty fresh looking. The thing that has me stumped is the color is the same as Natives used

Early exit this way sign? :laughing7:

Spray paint wasn't invented until the 1940's, and it even then wasn't a common thing for many years. Most painting like that would have been done with a paint brush, which can look different than what you are expecting.

Otherwise, I agree with this:

Early exit this way sign? :laughing7:
