Walking through the back woods of old WV, I came across this just on the side of some 4 wheeler ruts some young whippersnapper, (lol) left pretty deep in the side of a hill. Looks like they had gotten stuck and had to work it around for a bit to break through the mud. Luckily for me somewhere in the process I believe they worked this out. Didn't see anything else like this around, but hoping to go back there with a rake next time and till some ground.:laughing7:

I've never really found any arrowheads before, so does anyone got any kind of information about this?

Not sure if thats a arrowhead or not. Still pretty cool find :icon_thumright:

tough to say from the pics, but it is definitely shaped like many arrowheads i've seen. is there evidence of workmanship on the edges (both sides)?

Yup both sides look worked, and the bottom stem is a bit grooved for a shaft to fit on. I've just never seen one this size before. Seems like it'd be a bit heavy for an arrowhead though. Got a guy at work I'm planning on showing it too who knows a lot about them.

Nice Point! I have found several like it. Quartz is much harder to work than flint or chert so they usually don't look as nice.

looks like one to me, although a little 'thick'. perhaps it was never finished. I would look that area over some more in hopes of finding others

If I ever wished your side of the pond, this would be on my list:icon_thumright:
