A buddy found this last week at what we guess was an old farm dump or home site. Heavy, decorated brass with a rectangular hole. The backside shows a 2nd piece that slides up and down over that hole. Has the rusty remains of two steel rivets on the lower part of the back, one on the sliding part, and one on the plate itself.

What is it?

It is a faceplate off of an old Eastlake security bolt.
