Ashland PA Blob top

Here is a really nice pony or squat blob top from Ashland PA, from the Schuylkill county coal region. Embossed F. Krapp / Ashland PA.

I practically spent 1/4 of my life up in Ashland. In the past two recent years, I've been finding excellent spots for glass that I have to check out.

Ashland holds a special place in my heart. My ancestors lived and did business there. My grandmother lives there now, and It's one of my favorite towns just to walk around. It's gone downhill over the years due to the drug crisis, just like any town nowadays.

As for the bottle, this is 1865-1875 from first look. I am unable to find any info on it other than that. I know my grandfather and uncle dug these up by the dozens in their privy digging days, but they sold those along with everything else to make money back then. My guess is it's beer, because there were countless other beer companies in the area. The miners had iron stomachs from what I could tell, lol!

I purchased this one. My grandfather and uncle dug up pretty much everything in the area up there, save one or two spots. I'm bottom feeding on their old sites when I go up there. They didn't miss much!

I've walked from Fountain Springs, to Ashland, to Centrailia, so it's pretty close.

You're correct. My dad found many Fountain Springs Brewing Co. bottles there as a kid, and I'm trying to get permission to detect there next time I go up. I also want to try digging privies, if my grandfather hasn't dug them all yet.

They reported that the thugs- the number has not been revealed- entered the home, located near Route 61 at 25 Broad Street, Fountain Springs, about 2 am and went to Miller's bedroom.
He was struck on the head while in bed, after which the intruders moved a safe from the bedroom to the lower floor, where they worked to open it.
The noise awoke other members of the Miller household in the double dwelling, including a nephew, his wife and three children, and a grandnephew, his wife, and child.
When the bandits heard the shuffling upstairs, they started firing with a shotgun and the household members retreated to their bedrooms.
Troopers gave no indication how much was in the safe, or if any of the contents was missing.

I Believe The Book says the Driveway Used to Swing around the Back like a Big U , Drive in, Pick up, Drive Out ,
& The Speak Easy was in the Back of the House.

I know the Mennonites. I had a .22 cal. whiz over my head once.


I've explored the woods around there briefly, and found some broken Mason jars from the 20s, and a super rare ice blue I guess 1915 Pat. Coke bottle, smashed to bits. That was a heartbreaker.

I did some poking around in the woods nearby the area today, and didn't find anything. I made the hike to Ashland and found a crier/heartbreaker milk bottle from Fountain Springs and odds and ends.

Finding a nice blobtop with some nice embossing on it is like finding a gold mine to me There are a lot to find if you get lucky enough to locate the right spot And like finding gold once you find some you are always looking for more .by
