Hi all,

Today I got a chance to hunt a private yard where a house is being rehabbed..it's in a neighborhood where I was finding lots of wheats and silver coins last summer. I kept going looking for possible leads, and found 2 houses with "FOR SALE" signs in the yard. They were on the same street and only 2 houses from each other, and I got the ok to hunt both! Unfortunately, one yard had very few targets and lots of junk, but the other one had enough decent targets to make it a fun outing.

Not long after I began finding wheats in yard #2, a solid signal revealed a '41 Merc toward the end of the yard, within 10 feet of the street  After I removed the dime from its resting place, I noticed a yard almost directly across the street that brought back memories of last year, where I had found another Merc (also near the street at the end of the driveway).

My total finds ended up being 2 keys (one is an antique ), an old marble, a Shell token from the Mr. President coin game, a kid's pirate ring (looks a bit decomposed :D), a flattened penny from Grant's Farm, St. Louis, a rabies tag, a total of 8 wheats (1940-P, 1944-D, 1946-P, 1951-S, 1952-D, 1953-D, 1954-D and 1955-D) and the 1941-D Merc dime. The marble in the same hole a wheat was dug. I thought it was a cool coincidence that all the 1950's wheats had consecutive dates with the same "D" mint mark.

With this on-off weather (I thought the season was just about over about 4 days ago) I don't know when my last day to hunt will be this year, but I know it won't be long.

Hope everyone finds a little treasure this week.

I think I have this one figured out. :icon_scratch: They were kids at the end of the driveways waiting for the ice cream man and they lost their dimes. ;D

Congrats Nat, you are the king :icon_king: at scoring permission on houses for sale.
Hopefully Mother Nature lets you squeeze a few more hunts in. :icon_sunny:

Thanks Neil, funny you have that one, it came immediately after Taylor's coin in the folder Shell had for the game..if you were able to collect the John Tyler, James K. Polk, Zachary Taylor and Millard Fillmore coins, you won $100 back in the day. The John Tyler coin was the rarest of the 4.
