AT MAX advices

Can anyone tell me, when i use AT Max without headphones, it very high tone?
When i reduce it, it also very high, lower audio more?
Also, can anyone tell me why we have options for audio Threshold?
And, do Automatic Gorund balance is the best?
I see the note: Always locate an are of soil free of metal before attempting to ground balance the detector.
How can i see where dont have a soil?
All metal vs Zero mode?

i also confused, i like to test it, but when i put to air, his give me a very strong signal and sound, but in air i dont have anything.
Can anyone help me?
