Hello, fellows...im thinking of getting an AT PRO and was wondering is it worth getting a extra coil with it and all the goodies like storage bag, headphones, I think one can save more on a package deal...can I get an at pro for under 450.00?

also ready to detect my old logging sites soon as the ground thaws here in mn

thanks,
Gary

Can't give you AT Pro advice, but just wanted to say I am envious of your "up north" sites. Lots of forgotten history up there. If I were you I would get the AT Pro headphones, because you know you will want to get into the water at some point. If the extra coil is a 4 or 6 inch, it will be good for trashy areas. I have had a few carry bags but never use them. Just stuffing the detector in the trunk works fine.

Just got my AT pro, pm me and I'll tell you a couple dealers who will give you a good price. If your going to be searching trashy areas, get the 5x8 coil

thanks susan, I know im lucky because I stumbled upon this site while grouse hunting...im the only only a few that know about this site and nobody detects it but me...I will post my finds when I get up to the cabin in a few weeks...already have found lots of chains, wagon parts, carters ink wells for writing, horse shoes (summer and winter shoes) hatchets, wood stove parts...this site employed about 25 lumber jacks by the size of it...I have about 15 acres to cover and it is full of these items...im also a diver and may hit the hot pond where they floated the logs...

take care,
Gary

I got my atp and got the bag I used it twice . now I just put the md on back seat .If you going to used it under water remember to get the water poof headset

ok thanks, I need the bag because I use my 4 wheeler going back in the woods 3 miles...I understand that the dectector is only good to 10' depth....I will just use my fisher 1280x instead..

thanks,
Gary

I purchased my AT without extras and got a good deal. The extras are usually frill junk that will entice you to buy. Avoid the "metal detecting superstore". Bart, at Big Boys Hobbies, will serve your needs. He even answers calls on Sundays.
Learn the standard 11"DD coil before buying another. You may not need another.
Peace

I agree with CincinatiKid about the extra junk they add in the packages. If your going to hunt home places or areas filled with iron and alot of junk, see if you can purchase yours with the 5x8 coil instead of the 11" dd. It changes the machine completely. Easier to swing, pinpoints better and able to find the good stuff in junky areas. The 5x8 changes the at pro into a good machine to a excellent one in my opinion.

thanks for the info, i will look into that...i can get an at pro from bart with the extra coil and goodie bag and carry bag for 637.00 spring promo..
Gary

thanks for the info, i think i may just go with the 5x8 coil... i will have to think on it...

thanks,
Gary

You're planning on hunting logging camps and you wonder if you need the 5x8? ??? HECK YEAH!!!! As you already know, the ground is littered with iron. This will include nails and old cans. Logging camps are known to be junky. Get a 5x8 and you'll be able to work in those trashy areas easier. You will find the 5x8 coil very light and easy to get into tight spots between tress and shrubs.
