Detector(s) used
Garrett AT PRO, Garrett Ace 250, Garrett GTAx 750, Garrett Pro Pointer
I would like to get a metal detector that I can get wet. My price range "should" stay around that of an AT Pro. I have an ACE 250 and a Garrett GTAx750. Appearance wise the AT Pro reminds me of a water proof ACE. I don't want to get one with less performance than the GTAx750. All I've had are Garretts. I like them a lot, but am not opposed to change. Any help is appreciated.

The AT Pro and Gold may use the same mold for the case but that is where the similarity ends. Both the Pro and Gold are powerful machines with slightly different features. Personally I like the ATGold because it has the adjustable threshold. My friend has both and says they detect coins at the same depth but the AT Gold is more sensitive to gold because of the slight difference in op prorating freq. I don't like the silent search of the Pro and would never use the basic modes. The Pro modes are way more intuitive. As far as the icons, once you learn what coins read on the VDI display the icons are of little use. The only disadvantage to the Gold is you can not notch discriminate but again when you learn to read the numbers and use the iron detect it is of little use.

Plus they are both water proof to 10 feet!

ATPRO is a different animal than the 750 I have used the 250 550 750 1250 1350 and powermaster 1000 model.while all of these were good machines I was impressed when I started hunting with the atpro.always trying to get a better machine and thinking I was upgrading getting different models really most of them were about the same until getting atpro.watch the videos I think you will like it.and like you always used Garretts they stand behind their products like no other company I know of.

Thank you woody!

Is this the Garrett section ? I thought it was the tool shed tool ?
