All but one of the pictures are blurry when blown up, from what I can see in picture 6379 (4th from the left) it does have a look of cast not stamped, but again that is from only one picture, the others are blurry when blown up, I could be completely wrong, it is in a bezel and only a single picture to really examine..

If it was from the Atocha not having a certificate would be a red flag for me.

looks like a real replica to me....def looks cast, not stamped...especially the edge...
ballpark what you paid?

I would think it's common for a pawn shop not to have the paperwork
Perhaps it was from the estate of someone who died, or was stolen. Can you tell by the look of the coin?

What if it was stolen? Or an estate? I would think it would be common to lose the paperwork. Personally, I don't keep paperwork with my jewelry.

I dont remember what I paid. Over 1k I think.

Without a certificate, there is no proof it came from Atocha. Any Spanish silver could be declared "Atocha" even though it was found in St Louis Mo. Certificate of Authenticity from Atocha increases its value without it loses it's value as being an Atocha silver.

Does Mel Fisher keep records? The fact that it was set in diamonds with Emeralds leads me to believe it was from them....they set a lot of things in Emeralds. I just don't know if they set their replica coins in real diamonds and emeralds.

But if it looks to be cast vs
Stamped, I guess that would be the answer. I wear it daily, so I'm not concerned of the value...I was just wondering if it's geniune

Sorry, being set in diamonds and gold doesn't mean it is Atocha. Were the diamonds tested with a diamond tester that can tell the difference between true diamonds and moissanite, many people have put a bezel on Spanish silver, all of Mel Fisher Atocha's coins and jewelry were sold with certificates.

The Spanish silver I wear has a 14K gold bezel, it didn't come from Atocha, it came from the Treasure Coast of Florida.

Since you enjoy wearing it and not selling it, it doesn't really matter, so wear it and enjoy it. :icon_thumleft:

Yes. Diamonds have been tested and are real

So does Mel Fisher keep records?
Yes, it is recorded on the certificate, without the certificate, there is no way to track or prove authenticity.

It is like trying to prove a book was owned by Thomas Jefferson with no signature and no providence.

Mel Fisher organization had a lot of coins Made FROM the silver bars(probably tons of bars)they recovered from the Atocha . Your's might be one of them. They might have records on yours. dunno
I bought this one direct from the Fisher museum :)

The certificate has picture and certificate number, with out that it is a needle in haystack, you will never get them to search through thousands of records for one with no info .

They might be able to (by narrowing it down to that particular coin design in the OP, with Diamonds & Emeralds).Thats not a common coin offered by them.
