Look how long the shaft is and how big that coil is. The bigger the coil, the deeper the signal, right?

M...................................Melvin, no button at the end of the handle! These were made in the days before the invention of the retune button/switch! Some of us constantly had our fingers on the tuning dial! The Zero-Drift was good most of the time but if one wandered from the heat of the day and into the shade of a tree..........these would still drift somewhat!!..................................Joe

Yes, that is a retune switch .............it just retunes the detector back to the point where it was initially done withe the tuning knob on the control panel! This device helped later to save a lot of time and frustration!!.................Joe
........................................................I do not know Charles personally but thru a Garrett dealer...............I heard that he is retired or semi-retired/ he is not involved as much with his company as he use to be/ Charles must be in his late 70's or 80's!! Not sure about his TH'ing activities at this time??....................................JoeTexasDigger1 said:Is Mr. Charles Garrett still active in treasure hunting? What is he doing? Thanks
.........................WET GRASS USE TO BE A PROBLEM with the BFO type detectors....................As this was a long time ago................I don't remember if it just caused the detector to be erratic or actually caused a false signal??!!.................Joedahut said:I liked the first advertisement that says the coil is "grassproof," among other things! :P
Very cool walk down memory lane.
