Hi everyone! I'm after an id on a non ferrous item which I located in Australia. It's convict era and I believe from a British navy vessel which landed in 1824 and claimed the north Australian coast for the crown. I also found an iron belt buckle but I'm not 100% on this item. I'm thinking possibly a flag pole cleat, it's in great condition. Thoughts? image.webpimage.webp

Maybe a boat/rope cleat? Or as you noted, flag pole cleat.

Flag pole cleat works. Did you find it in that condition (rust free)?

Yeah it was found just beyond the shoreline under the sand. It's made of brass or bronze I think, not sure, but there is very little degradation of the metal.
