Went woods hunting and found another bird band and whats left of a purse. Avise bird band 942-28432 Write Wash DC USA.The other bird band i found a over a year ago it says Spring Vally Spts mn. club s.v. minn. 346-2954.and bird no. 315. I called that number and its a privet phone number and not the Sportsmans club.
The purse has Patd. Feb. 2, 75 LR & Bro. on it. Is that 1875 or 1975?
I checked the area very good and no coins just the small bird band.
What should i do on these bird bands?
Here is some other finds. I usually dig every sound i get in the woods.
Roger

Thanks richdigger.

Duck or goose band and pigeon or small game band. I used the small ones for banding pheasants when I was involved in a game club. Nice silver find....

Ok. I Registered the advise bird band and it was a Blue Jay,banded in minnesota on 01/01/1988.
I did this online and could only click on the bird was dead. There wasn't any place to write in that i found it metal detecting and no bird remains.

Try checking with the state F/G dept, they may want to know.

Nice finds. They should send you a slip of paper with the Blue-jay band. It should tell you where and when the bird was banded. Never seen a banded song-bird. I've shot a few banded ducks though. Some bands are reward bands. They can be up to $100 dollars. I'm surprised I don't see more of them posted.

I got an email saying it would take 3 weeks. They notify the original bander.I'm interested in seeing what a reward band looks like.

A reward band is similar and usually states the amount of reward. I have seen $10, $20, $50 and $100 before and usually they are an additional band to one already banded. If you google Federal Bird Band Reporting, you should be able to find a 1-800 phone number for the duck band. Over the phone you can let them know how you acquired it and they will send you a certificate with the age of the bird and date when it was banded. They probably won't really care too much if you MD'd it, but they will appreciate the information as they add this to their total surveys.
