I was supposed to meet Mike and Bill at a certain spot this morning but when I called Mike, he told me he and Bill were checking out another spot nearby. Mike had already found a fantastic find, and Bill had some silver too, so I thought it'd be nice to get a silver today. Been having some really long, fruitless days lately and wanted that to end.
I picked up a wheat or two, then investigated a crazy bouncing signal to find a '43-D merc. Then hit a pocket spill of a '36 Washington, '43-P war nickel, and '48 Jeff. A little later, after catching up with Bill and Mike to see what they had found, I found an area littered with wheaties and also picked up another silver Washington, a '54. Funny how things happen; I had just mentioned to Neil on his thread yesterday how much I'd like to find one more silver quarter this year, and here I found two. After a long dry stretch in the heat, I finally picked up silver #5 for the day, a '44 merc. I did try to find one more so that I could tie my all-time high for silver in one day (6), but I was too tired. I am elated to say the least!
The wheaties are '40, '55, '57-D x 2, '42, '40-D, and a '52 Canadian "wheatie". Bill and Mike stayed after I left and at last count, we had 14 silvers combined. I think we all needed a day like today!
Hope you all have successful hunts today!
